Ans: Groundwater engineering, another name for hydrogeology, is a branch of engineering which is concerned with groundwater movement and design of wells, pumps, and drains. The main concerns in groundwater engineering include groundwater contamination, conservation of supplies, and water quality.
About the Author :
Hassan Manjunath Raghunath (b.1938) had B.E. (Civil) from Mysore University in 1960 and M.Sc. (Engineering) from Kerala University (Trivandrum) in 1962. He was a Research Engineer in the Mysore Engineering Research Station, Krishnarajsagar during 1960-63, Asst. Prof. and Associate Prof. in Civil Engineering in G.B. Pant and Jawaharlal Nehru Universities during 1963–70. He has attended many teaching workshops, participant under UNDP and Water resources specialist for the Southern Region under AFPRO. He has one monograph, three books and a number of research papers to his credit. He was the Professor in Civil Engineering in MIT, Manipal, Karnataka. He is a Life-Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).
