World Civil Defence day is celebrated every year on 1st March.

AIM of world civil defence day:
that of bringing to the attention of the world public the vital importance of Civil Protection and of raising awareness of the preparedness for, and prevention and self-protection measures in the event of accidents or disasters.

Civil Defense:
Civil Defence is a volunteer-based emergency response organization. Civil Defence supports the frontline emergency services, e.g. in dealing with severe weather or searching for missing people. We also carry out community support activities, e.g. providing first aid cover at both local and national events.
Objective of Civil defense:
The objectives of Civil Defence are to save the life, to minimize loss of property, to maintain continuity of production and to keep high up the morale of the people.

History of world civil defence day:
World Civil Defence Day which was created by decision of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) General Assembly in 1990 is celebrated every year on 1st of March. This Day commemorates the entry into force of the ICDO Constitution as an intergovernmental organisation in 1972 and has two main purposes:
- that of bringing to the attention of the world public the vital importance of Civil Protection and of raising awareness of the preparedness for, and prevention and self-protection measures in the event of accidents or disasters;
- that of paying tribute to the efforts, sacrifices and accomplishments of all the national services responsible for the fight against disasters.
