World Peace and Understanding Day 2022
Celebrated : 23rd February
First Started : February 23, 1905
World Peace and Understanding Day Celebrates Rotary International’s 117th
Anniversary (2022)
Why we celebrate world day of peace and Understanding day:
On 23 February 1905, little did Paul Harris and his three friends(Gustavus
Loehr, Silvestor Schiele, and Hiram Shorey) realise what they were starting
when they met in room 711 of the Unity Building in Chicago. We have come a
long way, since then, but we still have a long way to go to achieve goodwill,
peace, and understanding among all people of the world.
Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvestor Schiele, and Hiram Shorey
decided to call their club Rotary, because their meeting locations would
“Rotate.” The name Rotary International was officially adopted in 1922, as
they encountered fellow professionals around the world who also craved
friendly smiles and humanitarian values. Over a century later, World Peace and
Understanding Day marks the founding of one of the largest philanthropic
organizations in the world.
AIM of world peace and understanding day:
Spreading peace and Understanding among all people of the world.
It is no wonder that
every February 23rd is known as World Peace and Understanding Day. Marking the
historic anniversary when four men gathered in Chicago and founded a global
movement of peace, tolerance, and “service above self.”
